Editorial Palm Springs Wedding Inspiration

Palm Springs is an incredible city to get married. The combination of iconic architecture and sweeping landscapes make perfect settings for romantic photos. This styled session with models Stephanie and Nick is great inspiration for Palm Springs wedding portraits. The editorial posing and creative lighting are influenced by fashion and film.

Portraits at the Palm Springs Windmills

For this session, we headed to the iconic Palm Springs windmills. This might not seem like an obvious setting to create Palm Springs wedding inspiration, but the unexpectedness is what makes the sprawling field of towering windmills such a great place for unique portraits. The windmills are located about 15 minutes outside the city. That means they’re a relatively easy spot to add to your wedding timeline if you love these photos.

If you decide to do wedding photos at the windmills, make sure you come prepared. Between the intense wind and sun, you’ll probably want to be able to touch up hair and makeup during your session. Keep that in mind if you build portraits of the windmills into your wedding timeline.

I loved working with the lines of the landscape and windmills to create dynamic wedding photos. The late afternoon sun and clear skies also gave me a chance to play with light and shadow. It is very windy out there. We used the wind to our advantage by posing Stephanie and Nick using a lot of movement and flow. The images feel really ethereal.

As much as I love the colors of the desert outside Palm Springs, these black and white photos feel so classic. I always include black and white photos because they’re so cinematic. All the distractions are removed to give you a sense of the emotions in the images. You can feel that forever love.
